Over the next few weeks, I want to take a look back at some of my most favorite events that I’ve designed over the past years.  I’ve had the honor of being a part of some amazing events. I have worked with some amazing people. I have seen some beautiful weddings come together. The most exciting part, for me, is seeing a vision – a dream – become a reality. To see what was first in my head and in my imagination come together to create an unforgettable wedding, party, or event.

These few table settings weren’t for any specific event, but were for a photo shoot that I and a few (of the most amazing) people in the wedding industry came together to do a few years ago. Setting a table fro professional photography and adjudication is a lot more involved than it may seem at first glance. A lot of new designers I see up-and-coming now have amazing inspiration and eye, but have yet to refine their skills in these basic areas.
Just as a teaser: glasses, plates, and silverware must be equally spaced on every setting – this is a must. I’ve seen so many gorgeous tables ruined because of ill-spaced water goblets. It may look right to the naked eye, but just as the camera adds 10 pounds, it also reveals every imperfection. Tables start looking like messy globs of beautiful pieces, not a sum of all their parts.
Check out these few tables below and let me know what you think in the comments!

This is one of my favorite weddings that I have ever designed. Everything just came together in a special way. Make no mistake – I’m the kind of person to be prepared to make sure that everything fits perfectly (ask my husband!), but there was something just magical about this event. As I look back at all the photos, I’m taken back to this gorgeous location, this beautiful couple, and the amazing time that everyone had that spring afternoon. The bride was beautiful, the groom’s shoes were great, the flower girl was cute, the ceremony had just enough humor to make it memorable, and the tables really complemented the space. See what I meant about table spacing in my last post!

I love doing weddings, benefit galas, and big swanky to-dos. The sheer volume of large events is so much fun. If smiles are good, more smiles are better, right? That said, I still love doing smaller parties and get-togethers, especially for some of my friends. Intimacy is something that I think is lost in modern American culture, and connecting with people in a smaller setting is a perfect way to do it. And who doesn’t love a party!? Here are some photos from a smaller dinner party that I did a little while ago and it was so much fun. The lighting came together perfectly and the host family had a spot that was just made for hosting parties. Take a look and let me know what you think in the comments!
