I love the fall. Here in Las Vegas, the weather starts to cool down (“starts” is a nice way to say it), and we all start thinking about family and friends as the holidays approach. Pumpkin spice lattes, colors that are rich and vibrant, the anticipation of Thanksgiving and Christmas – I love this time of year. I especially love planning events in this season. There is such a wealth of amazing ideas and themes that a fall event can have – whether it’s a traditional harvest party, a wedding out of the heat of summer, or just a pre-holiday party, there is so much creativity in the air!

I love fall weddings because they remind me of a time of abundance. With winter on the horizon, many people turn inward and the theme of family seems to be more of a focus. Fall is primarily associated with the time of harvest. Traditionally, the colors of fall weddings mirror the changing leaves and foliage outside: oranges, reds, deep browns, and yellows. Consider the harvests enjoyed in this season which include pumpkins (which are integral parts of both Thanksgiving and Halloween) and apples, which are used to make the seasonal favorites such as grandma’s hot apple pie and warm apple cider. The very personification of autumn is usually showcased in an abundance of fruits, vegetables, and grains that ripen at this time.

In art, you will also see an emphasizes on the lush abundance of the season, and images of foods being gathered in the wild. The predominant mood of autumnal celebrations is gladness or thankfulness for the fruits of the earth. This is such a special time to be with family and to celebrate the blessings of our lives.  English poet John Keats’ poem To Autumn describes the season as a time of bounteous fecundity, a time of ‘mellow fruitfulness’. Other feelings associated with autumn are that of richness and lushness. When planning a wedding or event in this time, use it! Use it all in bringing those wonderful things into your wedding decor.

When thinking of your fall wedding remember the beauty of this season and bring it indoors. Little hint for my followers: when planning any event, you hope for a great attendance from your guests so you want to avoid the clash of other activities that might be going on. Always take into consideration that autumn has a strong association with American football, as the regular season begins during September and ends with playoff competition in December or January, in the winter season, be sure to plan around this great American pastime. This may seem silly to a bride that has been planning her wedding (the most important event of her life, so far) since she was 6, but it’s a real consideration to many. Easy tip: don’t have your wedding on a Sunday until after the Super Bowl.

As with planning any event, take into consideration the feelings and the moods of the season, setting, and time. Anyone can coordinate fall colors, serve apple pie, and put out some pumpkins and call it a “fall wedding,” but to be a great Las Vegas Wedding Planner, consider the emotions of this time of year to really create an amazing event.

Choosing your wedding style

There are several different directions you can take when planning your wedding style. Your wedding style defines the over all tone of your wedding right down to what you are wearing. There are several options out there; just about as many options as there are brides. Letting your wedding style shine through as an emulation of what your personality includes is a good way to create a wedding style that is truly you. Take elements of your personality and your grooms personality then use them as concepts and inspiration for your big day.

Classic Weddings: Classic Weddings include a traditional tone. Classic weddings derive inspiration from age old weddings with time honored traditions that run strong and have for years.

Modern Weddings: Modern Weddings include aspects of today. Modern weddings air on the side of what is current, what is now, and what is today. Elements of popular trends are an essential portion of modern weddings. Modern weddings are innovative and often feature the latest in bridal trends.

Outdoor Weddings: Outdoor Weddings are unique in that the surrounding environment becomes a part of the ceremony it’s self. The location of an outdoor wedding can range greatly; they can be held just about anywhere. From beaches to vineyards, outdoor weddings embody an element of natural beauty.

Vintage Weddings: Vintage Weddings have an ambiance that takes you back. The décor, clothing/gowns, and music may take a step back in time creating a period theme celebration for the big day.

Country Weddings: Country Weddings create a beautiful wedding day with all the touches of down home comfort. Tying in a country feel to a wedding offers a charm to the big day unlike that of many other wedding styles. The elements of a country wedding can be seen in the décor, food, music, and clothing of the wedding.
